A retail and wholesale business that produces traditional Japanese “senbei” (rice crackers) with non-traditional, innovative flavors (think camembert cheese or strawberry-chocolate) and colors to higher-end retail and wholesale markets in Japan and overseas. Online and retails sales at their store in Tokyo have doubled and tripled annually since it was founded in 2008 and the company is planning to expand globally. Current wholesale contracts include distribution through Isetan department stores, Ritz Carleton and other five-star hotels, and JAL airlines, to name a few.

I received the ACCJ Director's Award last year at the TEAJ/EMI entrepreneur award ceremony. The ACCJ Director's Award has given me access to ACCJ events and members which has been great for networking and business development. The award has also led to a number of opportunities for me to present at ACCJ and related events about Language Cloud and our experiences starting up in Japan. I would definitely recommend other entrepreneurs to apply to compete in the TEAJ/EMI entrepreneur awards program.

Using bamboo as an eco-friendly material, FUNFAM manufactures and sells eating utensils “uniquely Japanese.” As sustainability grows in importance on the crowded islands that make up Japan, Fujioka has identified a promising niche.
Key goals of FUNFAM are to move back to the natural era os Japan before plastics were widely used as household items, when bamboo was one of the most common materials used. Now, arranged in a modern design, bamboo tableware meets the needs of both the environment and our consumers.
The inspiration of FUNFAM is ongoing environmental concerns. While fossil fuels are being used to exhaustion, bamboos are on the rise--they mature at a rapid rate of three years and consume carbon dioxide for respiration. We teach our children the importance of food but ironically, our meals are served in plastic tableware that destroys the very environment that sustains our food. Through "food", a subject familiar to everybody, children will be in touch with bamboo and become aware of environmental issues from a young age.
Recently FUNFAM has exhibited its wares interntional shows such as PITTI BIMBO (Firenze, Italy), `Children×Eco` Exhibition NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL GIFT FAIR (New York, USA) and `Children×Eco` Exhibition Designweek（Tokyo, Japan)
